how the war ended
- In many nations at the end of the war there were food riots, strikes, and mutinies. Russia had no other choice but to abdicate in favor of a provisional government in the spring of 1917. In affect, the Bolshevik revolutionaries took Russia out of the war early in 1918. In November of 1918 the United States compelled the Central Powers to sue for peace. In 1919 Allies gathered together in Paris for a peace conference. The greatest consequence of the war was Europe's finished role in the world. WWI undermined Europe's power and also promoted nationalist values.
result of peace treaty
- The Paris peace conference started on January 12 with thirty-two leaders. There were five countries present; Britain, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States. Negotiations lasted for five days in which resulted in five treaties, the most important was the treaty of Versailles. The other treaties were the treaty St. Germain for Austria, the Treaty of Trianon for Hungary, the Treaty of Neuilly for Bulgaria and the Treaty of Serves for Turkey.

- The Middle East was very much affected by WWI. The Ottoman empire, which ruled for four centuries, collapsed. The treaty of Sevres, which was planned by the allies, was made to dismember the remaining Ottoman territories. This treaty was signed on August 10, 1920. Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria were all countries that were added to the Middle East after WWI.
